A deeper understanding of Islamic bioethical issues has always required collaboration across disciplines, where physicians, ethicists, and faith leaders come together to discuss the most pressing moral questions in medicine.
For the first time ever, the Muslim Medical Association of Canada (MMAC), in partnership with the Canadian Council of Imams (CCI), is hosting a groundbreaking one-day forum that unites thought leaders in Medicine and Fiqh to examine and deliberate on the evolving landscape of Islamic medical ethics in Canada.
About the Forum
This intimate, collaborative-style gathering will explore real-world bioethical issues faced by Canadian Muslim providers and patients, such as (but not limited to):
-
Organ Donation & Transplantation
-
Declaration of Death
-
Reproductive Technology & Fertility Ethics
-
Genetics and Emerging Medical Frontiers
The day will feature two engaging formats:
-
Didactic Talks & Audience Q&A — Expert-led sessions by Canadian bioethics leaders designed to inform and inspire critical discussion.
-
Interactive Focus Groups — Facilitated small-group dialogues that allow attendees to contribute their perspectives and collaboratively shape ethical frameworks.
Proceedings and outcomes from the forum will be published as a white paper, helping to formalize insights and foster ongoing collaboration between scholars and healthcare professionals nationwide.
Forum Highlights
This is the largest and first forum of its kind in Canada — a rare opportunity to add your voice to a national conversation shaping the intersection of faith, medicine, and ethics.
Hosted at the historic Alderlea Estate in Brampton, ON, the setting provides an intimate and reflective environment ideal for meaningful dialogue and networking.
Through the efforts of MMAC, Imam tickets are subsidized, ensuring accessibility and representation from across Canada’s Muslim communities. With only 75 spots available, this is an opportunity to learn, connect, and contribute to an initiative that is changing the way Islamic medical ethics is understood in Canada.
