Join us for an eye-opening talk exploring how advances in genomics intersect with Islamic bioethics, and the emerging questions, challenges, and opportunities this new era brings.

Speaker: Dr. Shaimaa Helal

Dr. Shaimaa Helal is a fourth-year resident physician in the Medical Genetics and Genomics program at the University of Toronto, where she currently serves as Chief Resident. Alongside her medical training, she is completing her final year of a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies at Mishkah University. Dr. Helal has a particular interest in Islamic Bioethics, with a focus on the new ethical questions and challenges that arise in the Genomic Era of Medicine.

Dr. Helal brings a unique dual perspective bridging modern medicine and Islamic scholarship, offering valuable insights for healthcare providers, scholars, and students alike.
